The Movement - Dubai

Recently I got myself a new bike! A Linus bike from a wonderful little bicycle shop called The Movement in Dubai.

Linus are inspired by French bicycle designs of the 50s and 60s. They preserve the simple elegance and pure form of that golden era, but have all the benefits of modern comfort and reliability. It's a city bike and will be great for my endless journey's to the store and running errands. Its simple and reliable with a personality and style that makes you feel like you’re in an old French movie, not crazy busy Dubai!

Please bear in mind I have not ridden a bike since my childhood but the saying 'its like riding a bike, you never forget' is very true!

I honestly didn't know this bike shop existed but was very happy to discover this local independent bicycle shop as I am now the proud owner of a gorgeous urban bike with a duck egg colour frame Linus! Its very vintage looking and so pretty that I have literally fell in love with it. The Linus bikes are available in so many beautiful colours, its hard to choose! They also have a great kids selection to choose from.

The quality of the bike is outstanding and they have searched for the best accessories and brands that share their philosophy on quality and craftmanship.

Using only biodegradable, non-toxic cleanser and lubricants at the workshop for all maintenance and repair work. Your bicycle should always be given a little bit of love and be kept well maintained.

The service I received when I collected my bike was wonderful, the staff was very knowledgable and checked the bike over, including the brakes, hight of the seat and adjusted it for my height as well as ensuring the wheels were fully inflated, etc.....

Riding it is just a dream. I been out for a few 10km cycle rides and its very smooth and comfortable. I especially like the fact that it has a slanted frame so I can climb on in a ladylike manor rather than hiking my leg across... and I must go back to buy a wooden crate like basket for the backside.

The Movement is buried in Al Quoz Industrial Estate so I would never had found it, although I was pretty impressed with the space it was in. A cute place called The Collective at The Courtyard, surrounded by art boutiques and cute little arty shops, you literally forget that you are in Dubai!

For more information, The Movement can be found at The Collective at The Courtyard, 6A Street, Al Quoz, Dubai (Tel: 00971 55 953 2144) or you can check their website: www.themovement.ae and Facebook Page: The Movement Dubai.

Bye for now.... happy cycling!!

Cycle Logicals Subscription Box

Have you heard of the new subscription box everyone is talking about? Cycle Logicals?? I have just unboxed mine and its pretty cool and such a nice treat for 'that time of the month' where you may need a little pick me up.

Firstly I love the packaging, very clean and fresh.... and inside is a bunch of lovely treats as well as a packet on sanitary pads.

Products may vary from box to box and of course there are different products every month. It reminds me of the Pink Parcel subscription box that I used to receive in the UK.

I love the way there is an edible treat included as well as all the bits you need at that time of the month including vitamins, a face mask, a candle, tea bags and bath bomb.

My box included:

A face mask by 'When' (Makeup Base) which is a bio-cellulose sheet mask containing moisturising ingredients to help you look glamourous.

A gorgeous candle by Palm Lights which smells of aniseed. Its quite strong and Im sure will fill the room with its beautiful scent.

There is a Bath Bomb by one of my favourite brands 'Micaroon' make-up. I've never tried their bath bombs before so excited to try this.

Vitamins by Nordic Light with Krill & Fish Oil which are rich in natural antioxidants and Omega-3.

There are some caffeine free infusion Tea Bags included by Hampstead Tea London in organic Lemon Ginger. I love a nice herbal tea so they are perfect!

There is a cake pop by Sugaholic which is in the same colour purple as the Cycle Logicals box. Such a cute idea. I may have to hand this over to my daughter! She has a very sweet tooth!

Also there is a sachet of Palmer's Coconut Oil for treated hair and last but not least a 25% discount gift card for Beauty Solutions which is a fab website where you can order all your amazing beauty brands!

Finally there is a packet of sanitary napkins / pads by Anion to help you stay fresh & energetic throughout the day. These are the Negative Ion Strip, Ultra Soft Cotton, Super Absorbent, Breathable, Ultra-Thin, with Wings specifically for Day time use.

It mentions on the Cycle Logicals leaflet also enclosed in the box that you can choose your feminine care product of choice. They work with Kotex, Always, Natracare, O.b., Anion, Lil-Lets and Tampax.

And the best part is they deliver to your door for free!

Price of box is from 125dhs.

March Favourites

Time is running so fast! So late to post this but still wanted to share with you what beauty products I have been loving in the month of March.

First up is the Moisturising Sugar Scrub by Reine Michi. As well as smelling good enough to eat it does a fab job and does exactly what it says on the tub. When you are a mother of two sometimes it is difficult to shower, let alone apply body moisturiser afterwards so this scrub is perfect and leaves my skin amazingly smooth! I will be purchasing this immediately as I have an empty tub! Sad times!!

Secondly, I have Johnson's Face Wipes!! I must talk about these since they are with me wherever I go. It mentions on the packet ' Daily essentials' and I must say, once again as a mother of small children, these are amazing, not just for my face but for so many other reasons! So handy, I keep a packet in my bag now at all times.

Next up is the Tony Moly Pocket Bunny Moist Mist. The packaging is adorable and pink so of course I had to have it and it is very refreshing and just generally good for the heat of Dubai if you need a quick spritz to cool down!

Also, a favourite of mine are the Lip Scrubs from Lush. Now I shouldn't have told my 6 year old that once you put it on your lips it was edible and now I hardy have any left! ;-( The one I'm using at the minute is the Sugar Plum Fairy which is gorgeous!

My favourite foundation for the month of March was Chanel Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Make-up SPF 15 in shade 20 - Clair-Cameo which is the perfect shade for my light skin and it gives a full fresh coverage. Quite a light feeling on the skin. Its a good everyday foundation.

Rodial Concealer in the shade Aspen 01 works nicely with the Chanel Foundation. I like the consistency of it and it works well under my eyes and covers dark circles really well. Any redness can easily be covered with this product.

Topshop Blush in 'Good Girl' is a lovely blusher, in a baby pink colour and just adds the perfect amount of colour to the cheeks.

Nars Single eyeshadow is a gorgeous dark blue colour - shade 'Kamchatka'. I use this to create a smokey eye with a smudge on the outer corners and along the crease. A great night time colour.

MDM Flow Lipstick in shade 'Bossy' is a brown colour / neutral shade for everyday wear. I've been loving a darker lip lately but now Spring is upon us I must change my shade to suit. I love the MDM Flow gold bullet packeting which is pretty cool.

Lastly is something I rarely have time for but I did make a promise to start using Body creams after my showers and baths as I have so many and of course the benefits of moisturised smooth skin!
Its the Magic Touch Body Cream by Rituals in 'Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom' and it smells divine! It soaks in quickly leaving skin very moisturised and has a long lasting scent.

And that's a wrap for my March monthly favourites!
Hope you enjoyed reading and finding out my must-have beauty products!

My Nail Polish Collection / De-cluttering my Nail Polish Drawers

When you live in a place with so many amazing Nail Salon options there really is no need to hoard so many nail polishes!

I literally had three drawers of nail polish / nail art / tools / stick-on nails etc.

I decided to go through and do a little de-clutter as I really don’t need 10 bottles of the same shade!

Firstly I gathered them all and then grouped them into colours to make it easier to decide which shades to keep and throw.

I rarely have bare nails and love to have coloured nails. I don't really have a favourite shade as I pretty much decide on my colour depending on my mood. It could be light, dark, bright, pastel, polka dot, stripes etc...

Here below are my red and pink shades....

I have some pale shades - Peach mainly that I barely wear:

I love to wear Purple and Lilac shades... Purple in Autumn and Lilac in Spring....

Blue nails are also a favourite when I'm feeling quite daring....

Browns - Honestly I don't really wear these but feel like they look good with a tan... ;-)

I have various Green and Mint Green colours which can be quite pretty depending on the time of year.

Black and White - Always a favourite, Black in Winter and great for October for Halloween and White always great for Summer with a nice tan and also in Winter for a snowy look.

Glitter Polish - I love Glitter Polish and I have a lot of favourites.

Underwear / Top Coat

Silver

Gold

Oils

Whitening

What I threw away:

What I kept:

So proud that I managed to throw more that half of my collection away and now I only have one drawer of Nail Polish instead of three. Yay!!

I will not purchase any nail polish for a long time unless it is a really special shade that I absolutely need. "Promise to self!"

It feels good to have a sort out / clear out. It makes it easier to find a shade that I want to wear.

Stay tuned to find out my favourite shades and how I will store my nail polish and nail tools and accessories. I realised keeping them in a drawer makes it so difficult to find a colour that I need so I will be figuring out a better storage system.

Hope you enjoyed this post and having a little sneaky peak into my nail polish collection....
